Leadership

Bob Condly grew up in Long Island, New York. During his teenage years, Bob went through a period of spiritual restlessness, feeling an intense desire to know the truth about life and God. He came across the book, Peace with God, by Billy Graham, in the public library, which was a formative step in his receiving Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior shortly before he turned 17. Bob was baptized in the Spirit within a month or two afterwards and baptized in water about a year later.

After graduating high school, Bob attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa OK, majoring in the New Testament. After receiving his undergraduate degree, Bob went to Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA, to study Christian Formation and Discipleship. At this time, he was also attending Hope Chapel in Hermosa Beach, where he led a home group and later joined the facilities staff. Eventually, Bob moved to the San Fernando Valley and started attending The Church on the Way in Van Nuys, CA, where he became the pastoral assistant in the Singles Department.

In his ongoing quest to deepen his understanding of Christian spirituality, Bob was accepted into the doctoral program at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. While studying spirituality at Marquette, he attended Victory International Fellowship (known at the time as Brookfield Assembly of God) in Brookfield, WI where he was taken on as the Singles Pastor.  It was in this role that Bob met his wife Grace through her brother who was one of the single adults in the ministry group. How God works!

When Bob’s education was nearly finished, he became the Adult Ministries Pastor. After a few years, he began to feel a prompting in his heart from God to plant a church in the Lake Country area, and after several years of planning, preparing, and dealing with obstacles, Bob and Grace started Sanctuary.

Grace Condly was born in Taiwan and came to the US as a little girl. She grew up in a family dedicated to ministry and starting new churches in New York, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. Grace was educated at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD and worked as a nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Grace moved to Brookfield, WI and became a certified Nurse Practitioner. While in Brookfield, she joined Victory International Fellowship where she met and later married Bob. Grace and Bob now have three children.

While at Victory International Fellowship, Grace also felt the call Bob was receiving to start a church in  the Lake Country WI area. These plans were temporarily put on the back burner when Grace needed open heart surgery to correct a congenital defect. The surgery was a success and after her recovery, the plans for a new church were resumed and Sanctuary began holding Sunday services in November, 2008.
