Beliefs

Person with BibleThe disciples of Jesus Christ were His students. He taught them about God, the world, themselves, and the future and He trained them how share these truths with others.  Throughout the centuries, the Church has proclaimed the message of Jesus and sought to summarize its basic principles. Sanctuary confesses those truths that have been passed down from previous generations of Christians and assert The Apostles' Creed as our basic statement of faith.

The Apostles' Creed
I believe in God the Father, the Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, was born of the virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; He descended into hell;
The third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From which He shall come again to judge the living and the dead;
I believe in the Holy Spirit;
I believe in the holy catholic church; the communion of saints;
The forgiveness of sins;
The resurrection of the body;
And the life everlasting. Amen.

Regarding the expression of what we teach and practice, we're guided by a statement ascribed to the seventeenth-century German Lutheran pastor Peter Meiderlin: "in essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity." We at Sanctuary adopt this admonition regarding our formulation and promotion of what we believe and practice. We're not affiliated with any denomination and we try to respect and incorporate the best resources from evangelical, charismatic, communal, and liturgical churches.
